GA-EP35-DS3R mobo questions (Rev 2.1)
My son built me a new PC for my birthday using this Gigabyte mobo and a Conroe 6600 CPU. (I haven't built a system since I put a 3.4 Prescott in an Intel socket 775 board. I'm not up on the tech). I understand that this board features power-saving technology. My son was bothered that the system reads 1.6 GHZ until he stresses it with Everest; it then reads 2.4 GHZ. I suspect this is the way it is supposed to work. He apparently uninstalled the software associated with the power saving feature... "Dynamic Energy Saver" ... and feels that this behavior should not be occurring now.
I'm guessing the "Dynamic Energy Saver" only monitors what the PC is doing; it does not change function. Am I right?
Any help is appreciated. He's done a great job of modding the case and building the system. I would really like to put his mind at ease about this issue.
