Hi all. First off. Here is my system
XFX 680iLT SLi motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 1.86 Ghz
6 Gig's of DDR2 PC-6400 RAM
BFG 8800 GT OC 512 MB PCI-E Graphics Card
Western Digital SE16 SATA 160 GB Hard Drive
BFG 650 Watt PSU
There are Some days when i turn my computer off, then go to turn it back on...the computer will not turn on and i can hear everything come on and my Graphics card fan spins, yet doesnt turn on. I then have to turn it off, turn it on a few times for it to finally boot up and then everything runs great. I suspect my Power supply is going bad, as this never happened before until lately.
Also, everytime this happens it resets my CMOS and i have to go back in and change the settings to what they were before.
Any ideas? |

Hi welcome to TechIMO.
Why don't you try taking out some RAM, just try to boot with 2gigs next time that happens. I've found these 680i boards can be picky about RAM, and specifically how much you have installed. I had some problems when I tried to jump to 4gigs on my board, and I eventually just gave up.
But it also possible your PSU could be flaking out also. Are you OC'd at all? |

| Thanks! No, i havent OC'd at all. I havent updated my BIOS simply because, i had no problems before so i figured why Update. Note this also happened with my Old Intel Motherboard before i upgraded. and its only started recently. AND it only does this with this 8800 GT. my old X1950 Pro never had this problem. Forgot to mention i am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit. |

Hmm..when you put it like that, it is possible the PSU went/or is going kaput.
The 8800GT uses more power then the x1950, so that could explain that. And if this PSU was in your old tower, and you moved it over to the new tower, then it's possible that is the problem. |

I had figured it might be the PSU. Only one PCI-E 6 pin plug works on the 8800 GT. the other one wont even boot the card. |

Then I would for sure say it's a issue with your PSU. It should boot with either of the 2 PCI-e plugs.
Again, BFG PSU's do have warranties, so check into that. More then likely you can get a free replacement.
If your impatient though, you could order a new one now, then when the RMA'd one gets back, sell that off. |
