Topic: I just got a 780i motherboard and a q6700 cpu for some reason the fan wont work and i left it on for 5-6 min could it have damaged the cpu also is the fan or the motherboard the problem why the cpu fan doesnt work THANKS!...

did you plug the CPU fan in?

yes it could possibly have damaged the CPU if runnng for that long with no adequate cooling, note I said possibly, but hard to tell.

is the system still booting up & loading the OS?

yes i did plug in the cpu fan so it could get it dammaged 5-6 mins ?

just a question, some times things are easily overlooked.

is the mobo fan working also, hard to tell what you were referring to in first post in regards to its possibly be why the CPU fan isn't working?
