| New system build turns on but won't boot help
This is my 3rd system build and having a very irritating problem. I bought a ECS G31T-M motherboard along with a e8500 processor and a 1gb stick of ocz high performance premium module DDR2 800mhz. When i start it up the system hangs. It doesn't beep [b]but all the fans and lights go on like normal. It goes to the boot screen and lists my cpu and memory but stops there. It says to press (DEL) to enter bios or (F11) for BBS popup. But nothing happened when i tried both. I tried clearing the cmos by both reseeding the jumper and also removing the cmos battery and when i did this it no longer had the option to boot into bios(DEL). This is really getting frustrating and don't know what the problem is.
New Build System Specs:
ECS G31T-M Motherboard
Intel E8500 Duo Core2
1gb OCZ DDR2 800mhz memory
Ultra Power Supply 750pro Lifetime Series
250gb WD Hard Drive SATA
LG DVD-RW Burner
Antec 900 Case |

Maybe the USB keyboard doesn't work. Try using an old school keyboard (ps2)
If so, you have to set the legacy switch in BIOS,
It sounds oddly like a short to the case. Boot the board outside the case on cardboard. No extra stuff like disks. |

Do you have other memory to use temporarily?
Also try booting the system with no extra peripherals. Mobo, CPU, Memory, videocard. |

I tried another stick of memory and its still the same thing. Im not sure if this matters but both of the memory i tested run at 2.0v. Do i need a lower voltage memory for this motherboard?? |

try this, take out your video card, and plug it into the onboard video. If you can get into bios, then great. Next step will be to make sure your CPU FSB is set to 1333. The next step is to turn off your onboard video and also verify that your ram is set to run at 800mhz. Save and shutdown your PC. If everything went well, reinsert your own video card and boot back up your PC and you should be golden.

I'm NOT saying this is the issue, But I would box up that Ultra PSU and return it now and get a good power supply instead...
Thats one less issue you can rule out once you have stable, quality power...
As for troubleshopoting
Its always a good idea to set up the bare minimum components outside the tower before assembling everything |

Could the power supply have anything to do with it? |

Absolutely... granted its not the MOST likely cause...
I would troubleshoot other things before assuming its that... but either way I wouldnt want an Ultra PSU powering a string of Christmas lights let alone hundreds of dollars worth of equipment |
