| Simple motherboard question.
Ok does it matter what motherboard you use when getting good performance, or is it just whats on the motherboard that matters?

I'm not really following your question here trying asking a more specific question.
When you say "what motherboard you use" meaning which manuf? which model? which chipset? If you are just talking in terms of two boards from two "good manuf", with the same chipset and relatively the same features then you aren't going to see much difference or at least shouldn't in terms of performance. If you are talking about a budget board from the same "good manuf" vs a high end board then at standard speeds there might be a slight performance difference, however when you start overlocking then the budget board will fall behind in the curve. You'll have less features and a lower tollerance for higher speeds.
By "good performance" are you asking in terms of overlocking? or just overall performance? Again you'd need to clarify what tpye of comparission you are talking about. With everything being equal two boards with indentical chipsets and features are going to perform relatively the same. You might get a little better performance from one or the other but typically not an overwhelming difference.
As for whats on a board, yeah that definitely matters.

Like I said it really depends on what you are comparing, two boards of identical chipsets features ect. Then you might only see a small difference if any at all. Two boards of different chipsets you might see a slightly bigger difference but you are only talking a few FPS.
Overall at stock speeds it really depends more on what you add to a board than the board itself. When you buy a better board you are paying for the options greater stability ect. Better boards typically have more features, more options for greater control and more overclocking and in general are just better...lol |
