Question
AGP Slots

I have found that all AGP Slots are not alike.

What's that all about?

My Gigabyte Moboard has a slot that is listed as (Spec 3.0)
The Radeon 7000 card says that it requires an AGP-2X or An AGP 2X/4X Universal Slot. The card fits in the MoBoard Slot just fine. The marking on the MoBoard says 8X.

Someone loaned me a "AGP" Graphics card that would not even come close to fitting in the slot. I gave it back so I can not ID it here now. But what is going on here?

thanks
olepap

The card he loaned you was not AGP if that's the case. Probably PCI, possibly PCIe.

So are you saying all AGP slots are the same?
All those 2Xs - 8Xs dont have anything to do with the insertion mechanics??

How about that (Spec-3.0) designation?

Yes. All AGP slots are physically the same.

I have no idea what that designation means. Haven't had an AGP card in a long long time.
