| New Gig GA-7VRXP Won't Start up
Here's the deal. It's new set up. Gig board, 1500 Athalon, ATI Radeon 7000 board, 256DDR RAM. When I boot the machine, I get...nothing. No signal to the monitor. Everything spins up but no signal. The monitor never comes off power-saving mode.
Note: I have not set the jumpers for the processor because they didn't come with instructions for the settings for the chip. The voltage is set to something called "Auto"(by default). The FS is set to 100(by default).
I have not changed any of the settings for the board.
Note: This is the same thing that happened with the machine I am replacing. It would boot but nothing would happen. I checked the monitor and it is fine. No other parts are the same between the two machines.

Are there any jumpers besides FSB? If so, you will have to set them for your cpu. If you can provide a link to your mobo it would help us help you. |

What I meant was there were no settings for a 1500 Athalon. I would assume it was 100+13.3 but there is no setting for that. Maybe 133X10?
And the word "Auto" threw me off.
I've built systems before. Honest I have.
Here tis
Default Setting : Auto
(X X X X O)
RATIO 1 2 3 4 5
AUTO(Default) X X X X O
5x O O X O X
5.5x X O X O X
6x O X X O X
6.5x X X X O X
7x O O O X X
7.5x X O O X X
8x O X O X X
8.5x X X O X X
9x O O X X X
9.5x X O X X X
10x O X X X X
10.5x X X X X X
11x O O O O X
11.5x X O O O X
12x O X O O X
>=12.5x X X O O X
O: ON / X :OFF CLK_RATIO
Default Setting : Auto
The system bus frequency can be switched at 100/
133MHz by adjusting system switch (SW1).
(The internal frequency depend on CPU.)
O: ON / X :OFF
1
2 3 4
5
SW1 1:CPU CLOCK
1:ON 100MHz (Default)
1:OFF 133MHz SW1
1
ON

Ok, yes use 133x10= 1330 MHZ which I think is right for a 1500 XP.
The XP runs at 133 mhz fsb, or 266 depending on how you look at it.
Good luck! |

I will know tonight when I try it.
I still would love to know what "Auto" means in the clock speed. I guess documentation is the enemy of the proletariat. |

I swapped the memory to the DDR1 slot, set the switches to 10X at 133FS and still no signal to the monitor. There is a little yellow light that appears next to the ATX connection.
I have also disconnected all drives, floppy and hard drives.

Make sure your cpu fan is plugged into the right header. Sometimes fans can keep a board from powering up.
I had a problem with a KT7 on first build, it would do nothing, just like yours. It finally started when I swapped the fan for a different one, then I was able to hook up the one I wanted to use. |
