| Toshiba A135-S2356 won't boot up after attempted BIOS update *UPDATE 5/08/09*
I have the Toshiba A135-S2356 and i'm experiencing the same problem. Mine started to do this after i was i had issues with only 2 of my usb ports working. I saw a topic on this and there was a link to update the bios system, My Satellite A135-S2356 is having USB port issues. - Toshiba Laptop Forums, through that site. I clicked the link and downloaded the update. Once i clicked install the computer froze and i couldn't restart at all. The only way was for me to take out the battery. Once i put the battery back in i then tried to power it back on and thats when this current issue started to happen.
Could it be that the bios update fried my hard drive?

A Bad Bios update is a good way to kill a computer. Should contact Toshiba and see if they can help.

does this mean that my motherboard is fried? Or is it still operable?
Will getting a new hard drive help in anyway? |

the harddrive does not contain the bios. that would be some chip on the motherboard that does that. |

is there another way to get it to boot up with out having to go to a tech. Even if that means wipeing out everything?
Does this mean my computer is done or is this fixable? |

The laptop is toast unless you take it to a pro and they can force-flash the proper BIOS. It will never boot without an operable BIOS.

Update.
I took the laptop to a toshiba tech 2 days ago and i got a call back today saying that my motherboard is done and that it has to be replaced. Everyone else has told me that i would just need to replace the bios chip.
They want to charge me $250 for parts and labor. Does this sound right? |

If the BIOS chip is soldered to the motherboard (likely), that is a fair repair figure. |
