we have an extra power LED cable ...should we leave it unconnected or put it on the board in an adjacent spot? |

Are you sure it is not the HDD (hard drive) activity light cable? They can look almost the same.

It won't make a difference either way. Just gonna be another blinking light on the front of the tower.
I personally never hook them up, but that's just me. |

ok, we didnt plug it in anyway and kept going...so, theres no power on light, we can definitely live with that....
we had trouble getting to the correct bios screen and then getting windows to load...right now it says its formatting and its at 12 %....I wish I knew what that meant!
the stress is taking years off our lives.....thanks for being our lifeline..... |

Well you have to format a new HDD to reload windows on. You'll have a option for "quick" format or just a "format" which will take longer. (normally half hour+ depending on drive size)
After you format, you should be able to load windows on.
As far as the OS "loading", if you formatted the drive, you erased all the data on there.
If you haven't already, go into the BIOS and find the boot order, make sure your CD drive is first so you can load on windows. |

KK...I saw your prior post just after posting but still my last post is the latest problem...
windows acts like its loading then the next thing we see are these screens again....it never tells us to take the disc out and reboot...it just goes back to the reboot screen ...do we need to get back into the bios and change to boot up from the hard drive now? or somehow get the disc out before it keeps looping?(a word that pops in my head...not necesarily used corectly or in proper context)... |
