What do you all think of EVGA motherboards? I want to build another system instead of upgrading my old one and kinda like the EVGA mobo's from what i read. Just wondering if anyone has had issues with these boards, or what is the supreme top of the line motherboard out there? money is no object. |

EVGA has always made great boards, however like any company they have had a few boards that weren't so hot. ASUS, Gigabyte, Foxconn, XFX, MSI all have some great offerings out there now. You really just have to read reviews for the specific boards you are looking at.

All I can advise on some of the MSI boards right now is that most if not all of the Sub $200 Intel X58 based MSI boards have a sub par cooling setup for the chipset and tend to run hotter than the competitions boards, but that aside they aren't too bad.
not sure if its still the case, but I know a year or two ago, many of the Evga, XFX and one other brands boards were the same physical boards with chipset and Bios feature sets being really the only differences.
and if I'm not mistaken, and wouldn't be surprised if it were the case too, but Foxconn makes many of these brands boards, with the other brands simply slapped on. Not sure if its still the case, but Foxconn used to make all of Intels branded boards too.
Hopefully Karmakiller can chime in on this thread though, I know he was using an eVGA board, and is a big fan of them.

I agree with Rich. They do make great boards, but every now and then there is a bad one. I've used EVGA motherboards in my own system(s) for the lasr 2-3 years. Overall they have been great.
Best of the best EVGA board there is would be the Classified.

Just built my i7 with an EVGA x58 Classified Limited Edition. I wish I would have bought a few of these boards. I love it. I will be building a few more and plan on using EVGA mobo's and gpu's exclusively!
When I get some more time I will be posting a challange to the folding team, design a rig that will net a certain amount of points. One of the "rules" will be EVGA mobo's and gpu's, and a price of <$2500. Lets see if it can be done!
I will buy the components, build it and run it. If it gets the points, I will work out a "prize" for the design.
