| ESC motherboard on Dell optiplex 330 case?
I have a ESC (elitegroup) Micro motherboard with power supply and dvd drive on a generic casing right now. I was wondering if its possible to fit this in a optiplex 330 case.
The 330 also uses a micro motherboard so i think its about the same size.
If it does fit, would it be difficult to connect the power swtich to the ESC motherboard?
If it does not fit on the 330 case, any recomemdation for other dell cases?
Thanks |

It really hard to say with 100% certainty. The board might fit however you might have issues with getting the power supply to fit. Is there any specific reasoning behind using a dell case?

Why on earth someone would want a custom pc to look like a dell is beyond me but hey its your rig. Like I said the motherboard should be fine. The power supply on the other hand might be another story. What brand and model is the psu? Is it a mATX or standard ATX? |

well you know, Im getting older now and gaming pc looks little childish to me. I might sell the custom shell on this forum if theres a classified here. havent checked yet.
well im just going to use the same psu as the one im using right now.
but hey did you notice the 2 motherboard is not on the same sides? ones for a right side(my motherboard) and dell is on the left side. Am i hallucinating or is it really not on the same side?
look at the pci slots on the 2 motherboards. its on different sides. |

Hmm - interestingly enough it looks like they use reverse mounted motherboards. Everything has to be mounted on the left hand side of the case rather than the right as a traditional pc would be. Here's a better illustration http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...JY235A00MR.pdf
I've never messed with optiplexs much so mark that down for something new to me |

Im sure you could get a pretty sleek looking case that does not look childish if you looked around a little. Not all aftermarket cases look tacky and overdone. There are many with simple clean lines which will appeal to someone of any age.. Plus it wouldnt have the computability issues.
