In the process of building a new computer, everything is new except for the mobo/cpu.
The cpu is a pentium 4 521 2.8ghz
Mobo is the MSI G31TM-P21
Got everything setup, plugged in ect.
Go to start it up, all the fans run, computer front green and orange light come on, no beeps and no graphics.
So I start unplugging, took out the cd/dvd drive and restarted, still no beeps, no graphics, but the orange light went off.
Next took out a stick of ram, same thing.
Took out both sticks...same thing, no beeps or anything, but everything is still running.
At this point I'm thinking either the cpu is dead? Or this mobo doesn't like the older cpu.
Any advice?
Edit: CPU is from an old dell dimension E310 more info on it:
Intel Pentium 4 521 2.8 GHz - JM80547PG0721MM / HH80547PG0721MM (BX80547PG2800EK)
I see a lot of motherboards that work for p4 516, 520, 524, 530 ect.. But I don't see any with 521
ex:
BIOSTAR :: G31-M7 TE :: CPU support
Is this somehow a dell thing, or can I still find a mobo that will support it correctly?
