    Problem with my ethernet port

So, two days ago, my internet just cut out for some reason. I thought it was just my internet acting up but I think its something wrong with my ethernet port. Usually when I stick in my ethernet cable into the port, theres that orange light that shows that its working. It doesn't show that anymore. I know its not the cables fault because i connected it to my xbox 360 and was able to go on xbox live. I don't know much about computers. Can my ethernet port break? Is it problem with drivers or a virus?

I'm not exactly sure how to describe my problem except that I get no internet access to my computer any more and I think its the ethernet ports fault. I do have an asus board. I own the M2N-SLI Deluxe board. I didn't know what you meant by clearing the CMOS so I looked it up online and I'm not sure what to do. A lot of the stuff says it wipes the BIOS which doesn't sound good. Could you tell me exactly how you did it?
