HELP!! Asus P7P55D motherboard will not start up.

I got all my computer parts except for my graphics card and I'm currently trying to see if everything works. I cannot connect my monitor to see if everything is in working condition because this motherboard does not have a video port, I'm guessing that it comes on the graphics card which I will be getting once it is back on stock (Radeon HD 5870) I have it on back order. I was pretty much connecting all the basics and when I turn on the power, the LED on the motherboard lights up, but the fans do not start up. Can only help out?

    Hi and welcome to TechIMO,

Its really going to be pointless to try to troubleshoot w/o having all the necessary components, however in order to provide any assistance we'd need a bit more information.

What cpu, ram and psu are you using? what all do you have connected? what fans don't power on?

To begin with I'd check all your power connections and make sure you have everything connected, double check the cpu, hs/fan to make sure they are seated properly. Check the cmos jumpers. Check the psu voltage switch.

Generally if you want to bench test its best to do so outside the case.

Hey JVSilva & Welcome to TechIMO

You're going to need some sort of video card to test your motherboard. You'll also need the CPU, CPU heatsink/fan, and at least one piece of RAM installed. It is best to do the first test out of the case, on an insulated surface. But it is a good idea to have the case close enough to allow connecting the case speaker to the motherboard so you can hear any POST beep codes.

IMO it's a great idea to have a really cheap video card (PCI or PCIe) laying around just for testing purposes.

Edit: Here's a pic of a bench build of an old P4.

Welcome to TIMO from the Folding @ Home Team - F@H Team 111

Go local or order it and pick up the cheapest video card ( gpu ) that your mobo can support. It will help you troubleshoot better and if you have to RMA anything, you will be able to do so before you get your real gpu. That way you aren't sitting with everything but the failed part when your gpu does get here. Not fun waiting on one part then find out you have to send another back and restart the wait game.

    I am using the following:

Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case

ASUS P7P55D LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard

OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ700MXSP 700W ATX12V V2.2 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC

    Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80605I7860

    G.SKILL PIS Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2200 (PC3 17600) Desktop Memory Model F3-17600CL7D-4GBPIS

Western Digital Caviar Blue WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive

PLEXTOR 24X DVD/CD Writer Black SATA Model PX-880SA LightScribe Support - OEM

    Logitech X-540 70 watts 5.1 Speakers

and also some other accessories that don't necessarily need to be mentioned, but will if have to.

I have started the troubleshooting on my desk and outside of the case, but next to it. I have inserted the processor, RAM, heatsink, the power supply and the necessary components that I need to start the thing up. I finally got the LED light on the motherboard working, but when I tried to install the fans and start the everything up, they don't work. Any suggestions? The connection pin is 4 pins, not sure if it is the right one, but there are no other slot that would support it though.

Well like I said w/o having the GPU its pretty pointless to even start trying to troubleshoot. Even if you do get a fan working you won't know of the board is actually working or not.

Instead of banging your head against the desk now, wait until you get all the needed parts then you can start the process. If its really buggin you that much then really honestly all you can troubleshoot right now is checking to make sure you have everything plugged in correctly. You've got all the PSU connections made right (20+4 pin and 8pin) also make sure you have the hs/fan plugged into the right fan header.

Does the PSU power up and fans spin?

Are the 4 pin fan connectors the smaller ones with a red, black, blue & yellow, or are they the full size 4 pin molex but with only 2 or 3 wires?

Heyy, thanks for the help. I realized that I inserted some wires in the wrong places, it's all working fine and mighty, thanks for the aid, though.
