New build: Specific bios needs in microATX mobo
Long introduction to this: I'm doing a new, low end build, of a box that will be used as a media center PC connected to a flat screen TV in our kitchen / bar area. I only need the thing to do networking and maybe play some sideshows - no TV tuner, etc.
My plan is to stash the box in a closet adjacent to the room, and use RF keyboard and mouse for control, in conjunction with the remote on the (yet to be purchased) TV. The TV will need to have either VGA or HDMI input, switchable via its remote. I'm collecting components as NewEgg puts them on sale. My sole component is a cutesey little MicroATX case I just got for $25 bucks & free shipping.
B/c of the remote location of the PC box, I'd like to control the thing remotely. I was thinking that I can go to Windows Standby via the keyboard or mouse and time out power options, but "waking up" from standby (not hibernate) is a little tricky. This is accomplished from BIOS functions only, as I understand. Any solutions will be appreciated.
Thanks
