    mobo ??

    Hello.

I installed asus p5q pro mobo into a ultra m998 atx mid-tower case with core 2 E8400 , western dig 10k rpm hd and a corsair 750 watt psu.All parts are new.
When i turn the power on via sw on back of ps have 1 led on the mobo,no fans, no power the front sw. I must have missed something but haven't been able to pin it down. Any help appreciated.
    Thanx

Did you put standoffs under the mobo? (as Shy mentioned in the last thread).

Its probably shorting out on the case which is why you need the standoff's. Take everything out of the case and assemble on a box or wooden table (something non-conductive) and try and get it to POST.

    start with the simple stuff
    is there memory installed?
    is everything plugged in securely/correctly
did you use the correct amount/placement of motherboard standoffs?
is the power switch on PSU set to on?
    Are the correct cables connected?

if all answers are yes, then remove mobo, set on nonconductive surface outside of case and just install basics to boot

Do standoffs come with the board,if so what do they look like? I looked at the bottom of the mobo and it has little plastic pieces attached to keep from groundng.I put a meter on it before i turned it on cause i was concerned bout that, show no cont, so figured it was ok.

Yes they normaly come with the case, and they normaly look like this.

Looking at a review your case has a motherboard tray that you can slide out to instal it on then slide it in.

do as JP suggested, bench test it on a none conductive surface with only the min. parts.

Double check to make sure you have all the power connections made
double check the cmos jumper pins aren't in the wrong pos.
instead of using the switch use a screw driver or something else to touch the power pins off.
