    Question about my new EP45-ud3p...

    Hi all,

Okay, so I just got my Gigabyte motherboard in today (E{45-ID3P), and I am really looking forward to getting installed. Looking at the board, however, I discovered that the little four pin connector that is located up by the CPU area is an 8 pin connecter on this board.

Now...I just don't want to jack anything up here. What goes in that spot. The 8 pin PCIe cable? Perhaps Two of the standard four pin conectors side my side? Do I need some kind of adapter for this? I've never seen this hookup before, and I don't want to jack it up. Please help if you are familiar with this power jack type.

You use the standard 8pin or 4/4 pin connectors from the PSU, not the 8pin PCI-E connector.... As the P45 is an awesome overclocking board the CPU needs MOAR! juice....

The only 8 pin connector I have on my psu is the PCIe cable. Now, I have the two four pin connectors. Can those be used togeather? IS that what you mean by 4/4?

Yep, that's what Aaron means. The PSU connectors might have CPU1 and CPU2 on them.

    Kevin,

I put an identical mobo in one of my rigs, I will likely buy only these in the future. Go with Aaron & Nick's instruction, you will be fine. I got lucky with my Rosewill 1000W PSU, it had an extra 8 pin. You can have a blast with this board.

One note, did you buy an additional cooler or stick with the stock? I have a window on that side of that Antec tower so I can notice that for whatever reason, that fans picks up any speck of dust in the house. On mine, it's likely the top 120mm fan (out) drawing everything right by the fins but I vacuum whenever I notice the heat creeping up.

    Enjoy. Great decision.

Okay...I got it. Thanks for everyone's help. One plug could mean the difference between sweet success and the smell of burnt wires in the morning. Just needed to make sure.
