    three jumpers

trying to get a grasp on this, but it seems I may just be able to put the mobo in as is with no issues, but I dont know.

there are only 3 'capped' jumpers, these are having to do with the USB ports, apparently, JUSBV1 and JUSBV2, and finally the Clear CMOS thing. all are the same, capped pins 1+2 and 3 being exposed.

i'm assuming you definitely just leave the CMOS alone, it seems like that is strictly for, i dont know, what sounds like resetting the bios or something in the instructions.

and the USB ports are only changing some kind of setting? something about using standby with a USB keyboard?

so, what should I do with these three? and being the rest of them are 'capless', I can just leave those alone? most (if not all) sound like things I would need 'open' anyway, or wouldn't hurt, like printer use, the front usb ports, etc.

yes, okay I see what you mean, I just am worried about screwing things up, I see most of those open pins are actually where plugs go anyway, not things to be "jumpered"

well technically those things ARE being jumpered, just that they have a cable attached to the "jumper" and the cable is attached to something else.

all a Jumper is, is plug that makes a circuit and turns something on or off.

in the case of the Power on button and reset buttons for the case, the jumper extends that completed circuit all the way up to the case buttons.

    just an example.

Basically you shouldn't have to worry about those. Unless your having troubles with USB power, or the CMOS needs to be cleared and Bios Settings Restored to defaults.

Traditionally a jumper is the little gizmo that goes over pins and is used to change settings. (Called a 'cap' by satch4684) ex: put a jumper on pins 2 & 3 to make the drive a master.

A header is a set of pins on a MOBO where a cable connector attaches and bring a function to another area. ex: A usb plug on the front of a computer case has a wire with a connector on the end of it that plugs into the usb header on the MOBO.

    Something like that.

interesting, well here I am, the computer is working with windows 7 and all. You mentioned something about jumpers and making the drive a 'master'. i'm just curious about that because the bios had nothing listed for master or slave, mine were just SATA device 1 and SATA device 2. dont know if that makes a difference or not.

no, for SATA there is no master slave, that refers to older IDE drives where there's 2 drives per port, ones a master the other slave.

My master and slave comment was only an example meant to illustrate jumpers use.
