    Question Keyboard+Laptop=Dead keyboard! Or is it?

    Hi,

    Laptop Keyboard;
    The right hand side keys stopped working on the laptop. Children just finished using it. Could see a slight trace of milk. Could not type as all you would get was "[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[" which would stop then start again.

    So popped off the keyboard, cleaned any dampness I could see, gave it a blow with hair dryer. Put it all back and still the same. So took it off again, popped some keys to see if there was any wetness under them. Didn't see any. Put it back on but this time nothing!

    Have older laptop, different make but keyboards look same size. Popped that and tried the one that's playing up in old laptop, not the perfect fit, little movement, so wasn't expecting anything to work but it worked, in as much as F2 worked on boot up, so booted to desktop. In a txt file, keys that worked are wrong ones (q=4 that kinda thing). Still get keys that act like there held down all the time.

    Here's my QUESTION (at last);

    So as am not getting anything from keyboard when plugged back into its original laptop, even though it gives output on wrong laptop, my question is... "Is there anyway the keyboard could have damaged the laptops mainboard?"

    Now leaving battery out in some hope something got told to cut out!

    This is one time where there will be crying over spilt milk :-(

    Did you try a USB keyboard?

    I assume that would work, I haven't tried it as its not what I want. Just don't want to go along the road of ordering a new keyboard and install it to find its something else.

    Unless you think the USB has something to do with the keyboard not working?

    After a moment of not wanting to start! Took battery out, waited, powered up and the keyboard has gone back to only some keys working. So am thinking order new keyboard and see what happens...
