NEED HELP - NEED 2 UPGRADE PC VERY SLOW!
Hi guys,
im from NZ, im needing a upgrade for this PC I have very very slow..
Specs:
HP Pavilion
Intel Celeron 2.0GHz CPU
Windows XP Hme Edition - Ver 2002 Edition Service Pack 2
40GB DMA Hard drive
CD-RW drive
Don't know what? or if I do have a graphics card?
and I have $400 to spend (NZD)
I am needing it to perform faster (possibly install WIN7?)... as it's really really slow and I keep getting an error message saying "My Virtual Memory is running low"??
So reallydon't know what to get to upgrade, possibly a new mobo? RAM? Graphics card? I don't know
Would appreciate all the help I can get thanks!Last edited by BBYLEO; April 13th, 2011 at 09:18 PM. Reason: Title didn't make sense

Welcome to TechIMO!
What is the model number?
How much memory?
It sounds 10 years old, and not worth upgrading.
Even the case would probably have to be upgraded.
What programs/games do you want to run, and on what settings?
The memory thing is probably just spyware, a clean reinstall would fix that.Hard Sayin Not Knowin

The Celeron's were budget CPU's to begin with and like stroyal said, it's old.
If you're considering a new mobo, RAM, GPU, then it seems like you're willing to get your hands dirty. Take that $400 and put together a new system. That's more than enough to make a budget PC that will run circles around what your have now.
You'll need to spend more for a new Graphics card if you want to do some gaming though.Cute

Thank you for your help, yeah it is very old brought it back in 2002-2003? so yeap very old! I think I might build a new machine all I want is to run a 64bit WIN7 OS using the BTX motherboards with decent graphics for gaming and watching movies.. might require a few more GB's as I watch movies and like to download them aswell
Thank you FMA and Stroyal! really appreciate your help.

Budget?
What games specifically?
Do you want to be able to play them on high settings, ore is medium good enough?
Is there a reason for a BTX motherboard?Hard Sayin Not Knowin
