Motherboard Compatibility with CPU
Hi,
I just have a question here. I'm wondering whether this motherboard Theitdepot - Gigabyte GA-M68M-S2P 8GB DDR2 AMD Motherboard would support my AMD ATHLON 64 X2 5000+ CPU (which is a AM2+ processor) because if you look at the specifications on this it says that its AM3/AM2+/AM2 compatible and I'm not so sure. When I checked the official gigabyte website this motherboard is not even listed.
Thanks.
Glen.

Either the boards picture is the wrong picture, or the board is listed as the wrong model, or it could be a region specific model designation, but from the pictures on the Gigabyte main site this is the same board pictured on the site your looking at getting it from:
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3 - GA-M68MT-D3 (rev. 2.3)
(PCI/PCIE slots match up in the pic)
In any case, ALL of those boards of the GA-M68MT-xxx series are AM2, AM2+ & AM3 compatible.
Its possible the board they have sold there is an older Revision no longer made, but it should still support AM2+ if it support an AM3 socket CPU.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

thanks for the reply shyguy. That puts me to ease a bit. Now I just hope that these guys have the board in stock or else I will have to buy a whole new PC.
