    How To Back-up BIOS-Dell Inspiron 530s?

I need to update the BIOS on my Dell Inspiron 530s and want to back-up the old BIOS to a DVD to have in case of problems. I am told this can be done but I have been unsuccessful so far in finding out how. Can anyone provide me with or point me to procedures to both back-up the BIOS to DVD and restore it in case of failure? I only have DVDs on hand right now so I need to be able to do it to DVD and not a CD (at least for the moment). Thanks in advance for any help.

BIOS Updates downloads, BIOS Mods, Computer Identification, Forum is where I usually tell people to look for specialised BIOS help like this.
Have a look around their forum. This question has probably been asked and answered a few times over there.

It depends on the BIOS update method. If whatever you use can be directed to a DVD, then you should have no problems if you just save the copy on the DVD.

I would investigate your update system first. You may even want to consider storing it on the DVD, then transferring it to a flash drive when you reinstall it since I think every BIOS update scheme recognizes the flash drive.

It's all about "pointing" the update to the proper place.

    Hope this helps.

Are you experiencing any of the issue that the BIOS will fix? If not - don't bother.

My office has two of the Dell Inspiron 530s, and using Dell's Windows Based Bios update is a piece of cake.... As long as the power doesn't go out, you'll be ok..

The O.P. did get the BIOS flashed okay and it fixed the issue of his Dell not working with his new video card. However, I don't know if he backed up his original BIOS or not.
