Epox 8kha+ boot Error 52h
I randomly get this error when I try to boot my machine now...I just got the thing working fine on Friday. I left it running over the weekend downloading mandrake linux. Well, I get in today, and there's no video and the machine is frozen. Upon restart, I get a bios error on the motherboard, the code 52, which in the manual it says that it takes the amount of memory back down to zero.
It won't boot all the way into WinXP now, it'll get to the desktop initialization part and restart...
I'm really freaking out, b/c I thought I had everything figured out Friday, and now to find that everything's messed up again is really messing up my day

Ok, so the book states it some type of memory error. But the way Windows is acting it could also be a hardware conflict.
Remove all cards except video. Try a different DDR slot. Were any changes made to the BIOS - if so, clear it. Also, looking at epox.com, they have a number of changes to the original BIOS. Pending on what revision you have now, you may try an upgrade.
You mentioned that you thought you had it all figured out on Friday. Does this mean you were experiencing problems before this? If so, what were they?
Do you have any type of memory testing software (like Troubleshooter 6/7)? It may be a bad memory chip on your DDR Ram.Im against picketing, but I dont know how to show it.

Ok, so you changed a powersupply. Wattage?
What was the old mainboard?

The old mainboard was an Iwill XP333-R
The power supply wattage is the same.
Now, on the old hard drive, WinXP setup is freezing.
I'm really gonna be pissed if I have to RMA another motherboard. My R&D machine:

What is the wattage.
What is the processor - and did it come w/ retail hs/fan?
What was wrong w/ the Iwill - was the Epox a replacement?Im against picketing, but I dont know how to show it.

wattage = 300W
Processor is an Athlon XP 1800+ with a volcano 7 on it
The Iwill's EPROM chip needed replacing...after about a week or so it just went bad. The Iwill board came in around lunch, so I'm going to install it and test WinXP on it, just to make sure it's not anything else that I have.My R&D machine:

I installed the Iwill board again. Everything works perfectly. Is it a bad Epox board perhaps? Dunno. I'm sending it back, and when it gets back, it'll be up for sale.

Well, the bad just turned to good, unless that harddrive dies...WinXP's been running fine all night on the Iwill board. Oh well. I wonder what was wrong ...
