Hello,
I killed my A7V motherboard last night, and for a temporary board, I bought a PC Chips M805LR. It runs reliably with my 800 T-bird, but won't with the new 1200 Duron that I just bought.
It doesn't look like there are any newer bios upgrades listed on their website, and even what's there is only listed for the M805L, 2 versions apparently different depending on what clock generator chip is on board.
Any info would be appreciated,

Thanks,
I did find those bios revisions on the PC Chips site, but no explanation as to what fixes were included and whether they added support for faster processors.
Maybe I just need to order a new board for the 1.2Ghz chip.

PC-Chips M805 is the anonymous OEM version, the retail product goes as ECS K7VZM. Same thing. When picking up BIOSes, mind the board revisions, v1.x or v3.x.

Thanks,
Kind of funny, the sticker on the board that says m805lr was kind of curled up and below the sticker it's printed on the board, k7vzm.
I flashed it to the most current bios version, and it still will not run with the 1.2ghz Duron. It starts up(sometimes) and detects it as a 1.2 Athlon. It is the older revision and hasn't been updated in quite a while.
The 800mhz t-bird is running good in it, so I guess it's time for another new board.

funnily enough, that board is STILL being sold ... in its v3.x revision.
Seems the BIOS for v1.x does not know about the later Morgan Durons ...
You might want to hop over to the PC-Chips Lottery BBS and ask the people there whether someone has successfully used a v3.x BIOS in a v1.x board.
Please do note that the very early boards do not run the RAM at 133 MHz, with symptoms sometimes showing and sometimes not.

I may check that out. It's not really a big deal, I would have needed a board for the tbird anyway. Now I'll just order another K7S5A for the duron. I'm running one of those boards with an xp1600 and it runs stable as a rock.
Thanks

Gee Marc04, if you have an extra mobo and chip.. The logical Moo thing is to pop it in a case with some other spare parts and have a new calf |
