| Compaq Presario 5000; jumper settings to use PC133
Hi all,
Going to be helping a friend try to use the memory I recommended he buy to upgrade his Presario's 64 mb. I couldn't get it to run (didn't check jumpers at that time), and loaned him some pc100.
Here is the board (has the celeron version): http://www.uktsupport.co.uk/compaq/mb/com5000.htm
The jumper settings seem conflicting to me, but I admit I'm weak in older systems. Are they all off, like at the top of the chart, or all on, like at the bottom? Also, what exactly is off and on for the jumpers on this board? I think it has a celeron 700, but any ideas on what the max celeron that could be used on this board?
I've been trying to convince him to switch to an xp2000, ddr, and a new mobo and ps, but he's a little unconvinced his wife needs that much of an upgrade.
Thanks in advance.
