A7N266-VM driver install? (nForce)
hey all
I am working with an Asus A7N266-VM board w/ nForce onboard chipset/audio/GF2mx (dolby eax).
So I got windows 98SE installed(fresh) all cool and everything onto this system. ATI drivers loaded great, and the chipset/audio/LAN drivers from the original asus disc loaded fine too. My problem is this - I want to upgrade my nForce drivers in order to enable EAX/Dolby 5.1, but the default drivers on the Asus don't support it. When I had Win2k they installed fine, but everytime I try and install the new drivers from nVidia, the installer closes out and says it cannot perform the installation. As far as I can tell, this happens while it is trying to install drivers for the nForce video.
What have I done wrong? Should I uninstall the Radeon 8500, connect my monitor to the nForce video and try again? Does it make a difference?
Thanks,
jrock

Sorry - system specs:
Asus A7N266-VM
AMD XP 1600+
256 DDR
40gb 7200 HD
12x DVD
32x Sony CDRW
TI firewire PCI
ATI Radeon 8500 128ddr
Windows 98SE (fresh)
EDIT: Okay - well I got the drivers for the nForce updated (manual round about way), but I still don't have the cool control panel I had for the 2.00 drivers inside Win2k. Does anyone know - is 98SE just not supported for the control panel?Last edited by jrock; December 13th, 2002 at 12:57 PM.
