I just put together a Gigabyte GA-7DX Rev. 4.3 with 1.4AMD Athlon and 256MB PC2100RAM. I get an error before windows starts up saying "Unknown flash type" Also where it says the CPU speed it says something weird. I dont know what it exactly said but I assume it is not good. Can someone help me out?
Thank you

Did you set the CPU speed in the Bios? |

Is it a new mobo? Did ya flash the BIOS?
Might be a bad flash if so. Might need to re-flash. Does this model have that weird dual BIOS thing? Might be that, too.
Cheers

ok error says CPUID: 0644 ID: 000 and the other error still says "Unknown Flash Type" sorry bout the lack of info ... its a used mobo. Bios is version 7DX-6a6s6g09c-00. Also, theres no where to set CPU speed in BIOS. Somehow it knows its a 1.4 ghz athlon.

ok heres another update. Tried to flash it but the flash program said unknown flash type just like the BIOS said. Then I looked in AIDA32 and the BIOS type says Award Modular. Any help would be appreciated. |

I was with jklimpkorn doing all of this. Anyway, I did reset the bios before even trying to start the computer. Also the motherboard came from another member here. I think he traded something for it.
Windows does boot properly but the computer sits at that error for about 10 seconds before moving on so it makes the computer take a while to start. Also, I wanted to flash the newer BIOS to get support for the Athlon XP 2200. |
