If it boots and runs OK from a floppy, and you don't have any problem getting into the BIOS, then it seems likely to be either a problem with the drives or the MB.

Try your other drives one at a time to see if any of them will boot when used alone

If not, then its probably time to RMA the board

Already tried booting from each device separatley here are the results.

Floopy OK,hdd 0's and 1's and dvd & cdr nothing or 0's and 1's

Probably gonna RMA it tommorrow . Little bird I don't think it's a memory problem I thinks it's something with the IDE channels since I already tried switching dimms and removing one and leaving the other etc. Even loaded the default settings for the mobo a couple of times. It really unlikely to be a device problem since I also tried booting from each different device. BTW it doesn't matter wich OS I'm trying to load since it really does nothing at all . THe last thing I did was double/triple checking the jumpers for each device ended up with this setup:

1-)IDE primary channel dvd(slave),hdd(master)
2-)IDE secindary channel cdrw(slave)

With this setup it takes forever to past the POST sequence. It detects the devices after a loooong time, and when trying to boot it does the same problem . I even changed the cables to see if was that one of these where damaged but still nothing . My best diagnostoc is that the mobo has the IDE channels damaged. It's an RMA for me .

Anyway if you have any suggestions I'm all ears for the next 15 hours or so, before RMA. Thanks for the help everyone

P.S. littlebird do you think that any negative vibrations may have caused the mobo to arrieved damaged

My new systems ROCKS! Forgot to update my own thread . Before RMA the mobo I decided to check things out again. So I took aout the hdd and installed it again on my old system, to my surprise the screen got full of 4's and 0's. I was like WTF . I managed to do a low level format on the hdd, but when installing it just strated doing a clicking noise, and did nothing. So as you may have already guessed it was the hdd that was busted. Went out and bought another one (if you're wondering I did a backup of my info before so I only lost minimal data ). In conclusion if you see allot of 0's and 1's on the screen and the mobo passes the POST, then it's probably your hdd. Hope this helps anyone with a similar problem as me .

Oooooh, that's what that was. I thought it was the intro to the Matrix. Just Kidding!

Hey, thanks for posting back. So many times folks never post back what the fix was.

Thumbs up
Way to go, dude!

Just wanted to say that I think it's great that you posted back with the fix. I was reading down the posts and could just FEEL the frustration you were having. Glad to hear that you got it up and running!

To this day, I am plagued with a problem with an old system deciding to just lock up for no good reason. I just decided to 'upgrade' and forget about it... but some days I fire it up and play with the settings to see if I can get it to work right. (I must like the abuse)

So what kind of benchmarks are you getting with it? I am looking at buying it and I'm a little curious... Thanks.
