Question
ABIT BH6 and PIII 600mhz

I recently upgraded the BIOS on my Abit BH6. The motherboard is old but it still works nicely and I would like to put in the fastest processor that I can. It appears that, with the BIOS upgrade, the BH6 will now accept a PentiumIII 600mhz CPU. Can anyone verify this will work? Also are there any issues that I should know about? Thank you.

if its a 6 x 100 katmai 600mhz cpu then it will take it. i used to have one and the hardware will probably take 100mhz bus coppermine chips too but dont quote me on that.

With the BH6, I have successfully run up to the 1.1GHz Celeron with a socket converter. However, it does not run the Tulatin cpus or 133 FSB cpus.

So, if you shop the surplus market, you can likely find a 100 FSB P3 or Celeron that will work. The best of course is the 1.1GHz celeron. Second best is the P3 1GHz w/100 FSB.

Mine would have taken a pretty fast coppermine, but only on a 100MHz FSB. I think that some of the earlier PCB revisions don't have the correct VRM to support a Coppermine, though.
