    Asus A7N266-C problem

I have an Asus A7N266-C that runs fine with an old Duron 750 processor.

Recently, I tried to upgrade it with a T-Bird 1.33, but it wouldn't POST. I then flashed the BIOS to the latest version and tried putting an XP1700 in it - again, no POST.

I've tried clearing the CMOS, using jumper-free mode, manually setting the jumpers, even underclocking the CPU/memory busses to 200/200 but no matter what I do, it won't POST with the newer processors. (but it still works with the 750)

Right now its sitting on the bench with just CPU, RAM and Vid card. When I hit the switch, the fans power up but thats it - no video and no beeps.

Any suggestions to fix this before I decide that its just a bad MB??

What speed is the memory you are using in this system?

Memory is Kingston PC2100 (I've tried two different sticks - both work fine in other machines at 266 bus speed)

try flashing the video card BIOS, if you're not getting an beep codes, it may well be an incompatability there.

Interesting thought, but I'm not aware of any BIOS updates for a TNT2 M64 video card (thats what I typically use as my "troubleshooting card")

I'll try a different card when I have a chance.
