Off the top of my head it sounds like a bad hard drive. If at all possible, back up any important data from it. Try putting a different hdd in her comp.
Or does that cause problems too? I forget.

Why suspect the HDD to be bad?
First, does it POST? If not, then the HDD isn't even coming into play yet.
Open the case and disconnect the PSU from the mob for about 10 seconds, then reconnect it. Try powering it on again.
If it doesn't power on, disconnect everything except the FDD, Video, RAM, and CPU, if it doesn't POST, then there's something wrong w/ one of those components or the mobo. |

What did you try?
Where is "tiny.com" showing on the screen?
Be very descriptive since we don't have much info to go on. This will help the process go a lot smoother. |

Cool.
Now try disconnecting everything but the CPU, RAM, FDD, and Video Card.
Just pull the IDE cable from the CD-ROM and HDD.
If you get to a screen where you can press a button to go into the BIOS, then do it and let us know. |
