Thanks for the info. Although I´m not too hopeful after my experiences, I´ll try this information. Thanks again.

Sorry about the caps. i went to the link and I have already been there and i got any and all drivers and manuals I could find, but I still don't get a picture on the monitor.
Is there supposed to be a certain way to install the power, hdd, reset and speaker connections to the mobo, or does it really matter how they are done? |

There's definitely a right and wrong way to wire those connections (wiring them wrong won't blow anything up though). However without your manual or any other reference we have no idea which way is correct. |

Hi,
I found this forum whilst searching for something similar! I have an old Acer V76M mobo machine that I use very occasionally, more for extra storage than actual use. I saw that I could upgrade this from the Cel 466 that was in it up to a max of a PIII 750, so I picked one up. I have the problem that with the PIII in, the machine refuses to boot at all.
Replace the original Celeron CPU and it fires up just fine. I tried this a few times just in case I hadn't lined everything up right, but it definitely all goes together just fine. Any other ideas what I might like to try as it'd be great now I have the PIII to be able to use it.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards from Scotland!

I'd make sure that P3 actually works by testing it in another PC that is known to support it. Then make sure the cooling on it is okay. Finally, use the Celeron to get the latest BIOS installed. If that doesn't work, you could be out of luck |

Thanks for the info, I'll do just that later today!
Certainly the CPU fan spins fine on both processors, so perhaps the other tweaks will help! I'll post the results when I get this done.
Thanks again! |
