motherboards w/out video

If you have a motherboard w/out integrated graphics or a video card will there be a signal to the monitor?

If yes, will it display spreadsheets and wordprocessing?

Is it ok if you are not playing games?

Thanks

Where would you plug the monitor into?

If it doesn't have onboard or a card then there will be NO video. The thing won't even boot. You need . . .

CPU
RAM
Video
FDD or HDD (w/ software if you wanna do anything)

. . . to have a working PC. If one of those is missing, it's not going to work.

and agreeing with bill, if there is no onboard video, then there will be no place to plug the monitor in. and if there is a plug, there there is onboard video

You have to have EITHER integrated video (also called onboard video)...OR a seperate video card.

Onboard video is fine for speadsheets and internet browsing and dvd weatching and even simple games.

For more advanced games etc you need a good seperate video card.

Yeah, If you don't want to shell out for a graphics card, just get an onboard vid card. They're fine for most things.
