Possible Sound Card Error ?

Hey Guys I seem to have an issue with my g/f's pc
occasionaly if i play something that requires sound such as a mp3, or flash animation , or avi or anything with sound it plays but starts getting almost like a static noise over the current sound and gets louder and louder blocking current sounds and renders the pc frozen with the constant static over the speakers. I end up rebooting.

Your speaker power plug? A bit like my problem that had happen to me 3 months ago. What I do is, I put the speaker's plug alone on its own, without sharing with other plugs.

See if there are better drivers available, and maybe a better DirectX version. Check that the IDE cable is not getting into contact with something else inside the case.

Make sure you have the codecs to play the files, try downloading Ace Mega Codec pack and installing them.
