I already have some Zalman surround-sound 5.1 headphones. But I have a 6.1 sound card and decided to get some real speakers. Are there any speakers out there that can function as 7.1 and 6.1 so they will work if I decide to upgrade my sound card.
So what speakers should i take a look at? I have a lot of Logitech products and have never had any problems with them, so I
m thinking about getting some Logitech ones. |

Well for one, logitech doesn't have a 7.1 configuration. But then again, you don't need 7.1. To me, there isn't really any advantages a 7.1 system has over a 5.1 system. SO keep your current 5.1 sound card, and go out and buy some kick ass 5.1 speakers. You will be more than happy with either the Logitech Z680s or the Klipsche 5.1 Ultras.

I guess i'll take a look at those. But if I have 6.1 should I just get 6.1 speakers? |

I think a 6.1 card can do 5.1. |

Yah, a 6.1 can do 5.1. But I was asking, if I have 6.1 sound card, should I might as well get 6.1 speakers? |

Get the 5.1 speaker system. klipsch 5.1 ultra or logitech 680 are the best right now. If your on a budget get the logitech 5300 5.1, it is an incredible steal for the price. Your sound card will support 5.1 just the same as 6.1 so I wouldn't spend the extra money for an extra speaker cause you won't notice the difference.

stay with 5.1 - u dont need 6.1 as not many games or movies support 6.1.
do not confuse 6.1 as being of higher quality or better sounding than 5.1 speakers. a good 5.1 set like the 680s or the ultras are a far better deal than anything 6.1 out there - save the megaworks.
if u really want something 7.1 - go for the gigaworks... those would be fine. |

Wow, Just took a look at those speakers and I never knew they were so expensive. I was thinking along the lines of 100-150 bucks. |
