SoundMAx Intergrated digital audio is the sound card and the computer reports no audio device.. and the device is shown in the device manager.. dell doesnt know lol.. the OS is Windows XP home. and its a dell Dimensions 4600
is this during a game? direct x has problems with the hardware buffers for integrated soundcards, try running dxdiag.exe , and see what the sound section says. also make sure the card is enabled in the bios.
Have you tried downloading the latest drivers + mixer app from soundmax for your card?
If there is a simple setup program for driver installation it may get it straightened out
When you say "no audio device" do you mean like in the windows control panel where you select the default outputs and stuff?
