no audio device???

hi,
jus installed windows xp pro into my pc. But when i went to run it there was no sound, so i went into my control panel to check it out and it seys there is 'no audio device detected'???? can anyone help please?
also when i try to install my games it tells me theres not enough space when there is??

Check your device manager for any yellow exclamation points indicating problems with your hardware...most likely just a few missing drivers.

Right Click My Computer--Properties--Hardware Tab--Device Manager Button.
