SB Audigy + Call of Duty = Broken-Needle sound?

Hey everyone,

Just curious if anyone has experienced the following problem... I have a Sound Blaster Audigy, and I experience the following oddity every time I load Call of Duty.

When I am in the main menu, in a seeming random fashion, there will be a scratching sound that sounds much like a needle of a record player being dragged across a surface. This occurs while the background music is playing. These sounds only last about 1/4 second or so but are noticable. Their length seems to vary slightly too, but the average length is about a quarter second.
This problem occurs no matter what type of audio proccessing I select, though it does seem to get worse the better quality I select.

Also, when I start a new game or click on "resume game", the background music skips, very noticably, accompanyied by the scratching sound. Then the game loads and it <seems> fine, but I might not be hearing the scratchy sound because of gunfire....

What does this sound like to you? I have attemped to resolve it by updating the motherboard drivers on my Biostar M7NCD to the latest Nvidia ones, I used the Creative AutoUpdater to update my sound card drivers, and I patched up COD.

Any help would be great.

Sounds like you're low on system resources, whether it's CPU, memory, or the Audigy's actual processing unit clipping.
