The adapter cable would preferably be mono but doesnt make much of a difference. | sounds good, can u pointme to a site that has them? It would be appreciated

If he has a guitar, I'm assuming he has a normal guitar cable. In that case, he'd only need to buy a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter.
He should be careful, however. The mic preamp isn't meant for guitars. |

I've tried it, as have many other ppl, and its the deal Whir. It functions in exactly the same way as a guitar preamp, and works well. As for getting an adapter thats a pretty lousy solution, the 1/8 is much smaller and weaker, if you plug it into the sc with a heavy 1/4 inch cable in the other end it will bend and eventually damage the mic in. Only a temp solution.
As for where to find it I think its best if you could get someone to make it for him. Most guitar shops will make custom length cables, just say you want an 1/8 on one end. |

so, can he just like get the cable and hook up the guitar directly to his comp? (the cable suggested earlier in the topic, by elmers) |

Yes. Plug the 1/8 into the microphone port. Or, I'm not sure if this will work, but try putting the 1/8 side into the line in port. It works with a keyboard (synthesizer), maybe it'll work for the guitar.

It will work but the volume will be low. Line in works well with anything that has a preamp. |

What I do to record is use my amp (Behringher GX210) and since it has RCA audio-in and audio-out plugs, I just use an RCA cable to connect to the line-in (or mic) and control everything from the amp.
You can check something here: http://gelocks.topcities.com/Music/ALG(ins).zip
Notice that the sound quality is not great (integrated sound card like he has).
So if he wants to be able to record cool demos, he would need to get a good recording sound card from M-Audio or someone like that (I need to do that too!! )
