hey guys, i have recently done a clean install on my PC (due to corrupted HD ) I lost all my music in mp3 format. I have alot of it in the form of Hi-MD, sony's new very high capacity minidisk. I tried copying it back to my computer for conveniance purposes and it says the music originated from a different pc GRR!
Is there any way i can still copy it back to my computer? Or am i gonna have to painstakingly rip every cd all over again?

You didn't list your OS, I'm thinking Windows?
Did you encrypt those files?
If so then windows made a encrypten log on your pc.
The fresh install would not have those logs and therefore cannot decrypt them.
Not, familar with Sony burners, so I don't know if it did anything.
Maybe someone else has an idea.

Not sure about that file structure. Seems though that if you can play it thru your sound card line in then you'd be able to record into wav and then convert to mp3. Tedious process though.
How about something like isobuster? Hmmm, doubt it supports sony's format.

Nah i never encrypted them. its sony's copy protection thing. Incase u load alot of compressed albums onto one of there 1gb MD's and take it to ur friends house. Been thinkin about direct input to sound card but tedious isnt quite the word. I have 15 albums on this disk... thats alot of waiting that i cant do. im guessin there was a log on my pc before, like a serial number or sumthin that it encrypts into the songs as it encodes them. so..... damn! |

Ah, i got ya. Not real familiar with the mini disc stuff. My son used the old version for awhile but since he's got an ipod the sony just collects dust.
Looks like it's re-rip and burn time. Uhg! |
