Well it is possible to use free software to rip the DVD, then put the DVD into an AVI file and then use videora to goto MP4 format. Or you could just buy this tool and click go and have it done a lot faster. I have yet to see any free tools that convert directly from DVD to the Mp4 file quickly. I have seen some that goto other formats but all it really is just a batch files that runs all the steps for you and it takes a while.

yuno: there isn't any easy answer to convert them
You could use dvdshrink to rip the dvd, another app to convert the VOB files to another format and then shrink it for iPod if you really wanted though.

yep, there you go

looks to be a long and complicated process...but....unless you don't want to resort to "other methods"....i guess this is the only way to go...so far anyway...

The central software of my DVD conversion is ANYDVD. It costs, but I don't have to upgrade ancillary conversion software. I'll use the old standard DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter to rip the files. Then I'll use SUPER if I'm to covert the format. Super can actually rip from the DVD disk.

I haven't gotten around to pulling it from a DVD but http://iriverter.thestaticvoid.org/ has been a great program for me in converting vids.

The problem isn't finding something that will convert. There are plenty of software that will do it. The problem is finding something that will rip the files from the DVD. I use ANYDVD because its sole purpose is to unlock the copyprotection. After that, anything will work.

Production IG is doing a new Ghost in the Shell series starting in June. It's a four episode OVA of the origin story of Section 9, and it's got all new voice actors. It's going to be strange hearing...
