simple p2p question

oki downloaded a video file and it says its type is video/x-ms video. i used ares. when i play it by just double clicking, ares wont play it. but when i open it using windows media player it will play the audio part fine but the video wont play it just goes into that pretty colors wmp screen saver, ya know. is the file corrupt or is it just that im using a video player thats not capable. its a simple short vido clip. the type is x-msvideo
