New Uses for old parallel Logitech QuickCam?
Greetings Fellow Tekkies,
By now I have accumulated a constellation of assorted Logiteck QuickCams. The oldest of these eyeball-looking cams is a color QuickCam with a parallel interface. While the USB versions provide fairly clear imaging, the parallel version gives a greenish, unfocused look, making it look like a dream sequence or shot underwater.
Are the electronics so out-of-date that the utility of this cam cannot be rescued by an updated driver or third-party software? I have heard of others writing code for this camera and it also seems to be a favorite with astronomers, who delight in prying it apart and splicing it onto a telescope.
Lastly, if there are CCD webcam-guts that could be transplated into the sharp-looking casing, I suppose that would be a fun project as well.
QUESTION #1
Any software updates that might clear up the image?
QUESTION #2
If no to Question # 1, then are there camera guts that can be transplanted into the QuickCam casing?
Thanks in advance,
K.J.
