| AVI to DVD authoring (help!)
Okay, so I have these AVI files on my PC with a DVD burner that I want to share with family and friends on their DVD players. Well, since I am a noob at such things, I'm wondering if there is any freeware out there that could help me complete such a task.
Yeah, I know there are other threads out there on this topic, but they appear to be a couple of years old and I'm sure things have moved forward since then.
Thanks in advance!

Nero Vision will work, if you have Nero.
Otherwise, www.doom9 has a large collection of guides and software to do with DVD conversions, both to and from. |

The easiest and best software is Nero Vision 4, which comes with Nero 7 Ultra. Sometimes other software, like DVD Santa, just doesn't like the AVI encoding and won't do any conversion. I have never had problems with Nero Vision 4.
If you are converting for people's DVD player from AVI be sure that you also convert to NTSC. You may be converting to PAL and a lot of DVD players don't support PAL.
But if you have a lot of movies, the easiest thing is for your friends to get a DivX player! Then you can stack 3-6 movies on a DVD disk!

Thank you very much for that, TM.
I needed something to convert some Real Media files, and that looks to be just the program I need. |

WinAvi sometimes doesn't like AVI files that Nero will handle. |
