    mic cord

i use a dynamic mic to record my music
and yes i know i should be using a condenser
but i need to save up first. i just got a job
and everything but back to the topic. i have 2
different mics and 2 different cords.

    mic 1: Realistic Dynamic Unidirectional
    mic 2: Corvus " " " "

    cord 1 & cord 2

ive been using mic 1 with cord 1 since the beginning
but i wanted better quality so i played around
and mic 1 with cord 2 sounded better. but i still get
this hissing crackling sound in the background. i was
wondering if a more high quality cord would help this.

    TIA

    Hello,
I have a few questions...how are you recording music with the microphone...please give more info (gear you are using). A realistic microphone (I used to play with them around 30-35 years ago (unless things have changed) they are not good mics. Give details on the mic (model number) so I can check specs. At this point I can not say if the cord, or the microphone (or gear) is the problem for the crackling. If your going to buy a condenser microphone later on your going to need a preamp, or a mixer with phantom power to power it. Take Care.

    Hello,
The pictures that I have seen with the Realistic mic all had XLR cables on them? Are you using an XLR cable, or an 1/4" - 1/8" jack cable? Either way the cord is probably the culprit, however I wouldn't trust my recording with a cheap mic...especially a Realistic. The USB Condenser mic looks very nice, and the price isn't bad. I did a search on a site I used to deal with for many years in the past, and they had a Samson USB Microphone that also looked really nice. Here's the link: http://www.americanmusical.com/item--i-SAM-C03U.html
I would suggest shopping around, and find the best price before buying from the store that you gave me the link to. Call the store(s) up for a price comparison...you might be able to get it for a few dollars cheaper.
