| Successor to the Altec Lansing MX5021?
Another successor thread.
This really has me curious. When they first came out I decided I was going to hold off till they lowered (quite) a bit and get them.. well, now they can't be found anywhere for a reasonable price or at a legitimate site (even eBay has no entries - one popped up recently but was quickly snatched up from Buy It Now). So now I'm just patiently waiting for the successor, which should be as amazing as the current model, if that is ever going to come. Anyone got some convincing rumors to share? |

Speakers aren't like computers. The technology is fairly mature. Too often successors are nothing more than a cosmetic upgrade. If you like the MX5021, why not just grab them?
I'm a Klipsch person myself. |

Of course, it still only has 2 channels. Oh well, you win some, you lose some... |

I'm a Klipsch person myself. | The reason I'm hoping for a successor is for a chance to buy a pair. As I mentioned in the original post, the MX5021s cannot be found anywhere now (unless you can point me to one).
Thought about the ProMedia 2.1s, but for me, I like the more exclusive part of having an Altec set - everyone has Logitechs, Klipsch, and (insert other commonly discussed brand).
So if you could point out a place that is selling them for ~$130 new or $100 (or less) used, I'd be grateful. |

The FX series would probably be the closest thing you can get from AL. But they are expensive...

There is good reason many people buy the Promedia 2.1 and z-2300.
I doubt you find these new. Google doesnt even bring up any In Stock results. |

ProMedias were 2nd on my list, but I prefer the extra clarity of the MX5021s rather than the extra bass of the ProMedias since I know both sets have enough bass already. I'm also in love with the piano black finish of the MX5021s. The Logitech Z-2300s look cheap and unaesthetic. |
