splitting mpeg video
I have a friend who has a bunch of home video vhs from a long time ago who wants to rip the video to his computer(already has capture card) then with software break the video up into different events that are on the same tape. Now I'm not just taking about splitting the video into two or tree, he needs to split it 5-10 times off each tape. Basically make a timeline split of several events and save each event as their own file.
So my question is what would be the best software to use that would make it easiest for him as he is not the most computer savvy person around and I don't want to spend the next 5 yrs doing it for him with power director or pinnacle studio. If possible to spit the same video keeping track of where previous split ended to start next one.
