DVD to M4 conversion

I use Avex software suite to convert my dvds to m4 but I alway get blocky video, what is the best settings to convert the dvds too? I get nice video if it's over over 1 GB but that is large for a 2GB memory card. what is the best bitrate for the video?


I am using a GPL conversion filter which was suggested from the software
support via email.

If by M4 you meant MPEG4/H.264, then your best option is MPEG Streamclip, free from www.squared5.com.
