| Audio Driver Problem
I have a XFX nForce 680i LT SLI Mobo, when i put the driver in to install theres two options, one for the audio, and one for everything else, the "everything else" one installs ok, but when i install the audio driver it says it intalls but it never does.
in case u need to know:
ge-force 8800gt superclocked edition
core 2 quad q6600
4g ram (corsair)
windows xp sp3

Are you using the CD that came with the motherboard?
If so, have you tried to download the newest platform drivers from nvidia.com?
Are you sure the onboard sound is not somehow deactivated in the BIOS? |

I don't know the specifics of what came with the disc, but I know for the boards I've gotten some of the software on the installation disc screws shit up and is not recommended to install. |

When you say won't run, as in no sound?
If so, check to make sure its plugged into proper jack.
Make sure the Windows volume control doesn't have sound muted.
make sure under Sounds and Audio Devices Properties (right click volume icon in systray, select Adjust Audio Properties), under the Audio tab, make sure the onboard sound is selected for the various options, as well as under the Voice tab too.
and as someone else suggested double check to make sure Audio isn't disabled in the bios, not sure about the 680i boards, but for some boards there actually is two options in bios for onboard audio, one to disable the chip, the other to diable the codecs for it...
I'm running a 650i board, but can't remember what the settings were on mine. it was either this one, or the Socket 939 NForce 4 SLI board I had prior to this that had something like that in it. (thinking it was the old board, as that one had an onboard Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit chip) |

there is no windows volume control, its exactly as if it wasnt installed, except that all the files are in their corresponding folders, no sure what the systray is cause there are absolutely no volume icons what so ever on the screen =/ |
