No sound when coming out of "Standby"

My doctor gave me an Old Dell 4550 w/ P4 2Ghz CPU. I installed new WD hard drive and added 128 mb of RAM and an Intel network card. Seems to run great. I let it run all the time but put it in Standby when not actually using it. But sometimes I have to restart the computer to get the sound working.

Tried the usual suspects but am at loss ?? Latest drivers, etc.

Any words of wisdom greatly appreciated.
